Dexter Lyons and Family

I was born in Church Point, Louisiana but was raised in Lafayette. I graduated from the University of Louisiana in 1991 with a General Business degree and strong interests in computers and the stock market.

After losing over half of my life savings to a stock broker whose interests were obviously not the same as mine, I promised myself to never let that happen again. A mutual friend introduced me to Mark Thomas. I worked for him while finishing my college degree and also studied the stock market and computers. Mark and I partnered in 1993 and changed the name of the firm to Horizon Capital Management with a fee-only (no commission) investment management focus. During 2004 we researched and formed the HCM Freedom Fund as a way to better manage risk and return.

Deirdre and I were married in 1994 and blessed with wonderful loving children! Cade, “my little man,” was born in 2002 and Connor, “my big man,” was born in 2000, while Katie, “my little angel,” was born in 1997. Bryce, my oldest son, attends UL with an interest in making movies.

My passion is managing money. It is what I really love to do! I enjoy helping out with the computers at our church and spending time with my lovely wife and kids. I am very thankful for the many blessings that I enjoy.
